P i e r c e County Housing Authority Opens Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Pierce County Housing Authority (PCHA) will be accepting applications online for the Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher waitlist beginning at 12:00am on Monday, November 16, 2015 until 11:59pm on Thursday, November 19th, 2015.   To better serve applicants and to make the application process available to all, including those who are least likely to apply; the entire application process is available on‐line by going to http://www.pchawa.org

Beware of scams!   
o You will never be asked to give money or pay in association with your application
o The application can only be accessed through http://www.pchawa.org

ADVANTAGES OF AN ONLINE WAITLIST:
· Applicants can apply using multiple languages
· Status of applications will be available shortly after the closing date and applicants will receive instructions for checking their status during the on‐line application
· Applicants can apply from any computer or smartphone with internet access
· No long lines
· Available 24 hours a day during the opening

REASONABLE ACCOMODATION:
In person applications (not using a computer) will only be accepted as a Reasonable Accommodation.   In person applicants should be prepared to provide documentation of a disability and the need for their requested accommodation related to the disability from a qualified professional.
   
APPLICANT SELECTION:
PCHA will conduct a random lottery of all eligible applications to fill 1500 positions on the 2015 PCHA Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher waitlist. The time and date of application submission has no bearing on the position of applicants on the waitlist.   There is no advantage to applying immediately after the list opens.   

ACCESS TO INTERNET AND COMPUTERS
If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone with internet access, computers can be accessed at public library locations in Pierce County during library business hours. Disabled individuals requiring adaptive equipment for an online application can contact Tacoma Area Coalition of Individuals with Disabilities (TACID) at: 253.565.9000. Pierce County Housing Authority will have two computers available for use on a first come, first served basis during normal business hours.
